The Knights (8-0) also completed their fourth undefeated regular season in the last five years. City will now move on to face Pasadena in a team playoff on Wednesday, May 5. The winner will earn the opportunity to play for the state championship on May 13.

SDCC won the state title in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
 

Son Nguyen, is in his fifth year as head coach after one season as an assistant at SDCC.  In his first three seasons as head coach, Nguyen led the women's badminton team to a 34-0 record and three California State Championships (2006, 2007, 2008).

Son brings much experience to the program having taught and coached badminton at the high school level in San Diego and producing some of the top ranked female players in the area. He was also an assistant on last year's SDCC team.
