Lori Ray, MEd, ATC
Head Athletic Trainer
Lori
has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, with an
emphasis in Athletic Training, from San Diego State University.
She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association.
Lori obtained her Masters Degree in Education from Azuza Pacific
University.
Born and raised
in San Diego, she graduated from Madison High School and Mesa
College. She started her career at City College, filling in for
the athletic trainer, who went on maternity leave. Lori continued
in a part time status working mostly with the Men's Basketball
Program until March of 1999, when she joined the Athletic Medicine
Staff, working with all the athletes in our program.
Lori also
has worked at the Arco Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista in
the sports medicine department. She had the opportunity to deal
with athletes on all levels, from developmental to elite status.
As a member of the sports medicine pool for the US Field Hockey
Association, she often travels with both the men's and women's
National Teams. These journeys have taken her to Europe, Canada,
and across the United States.
Christine Tang,
ATC, EMT
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Christine Tang has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with an
emphasis in Athletic Training, from San Diego State Univeristy. She is
certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the National
Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and by the American Heart
Association as a Health Care Provider CPR and AED.
Christine's
experience includes working at several San Diego Rock 'N" Roll Marathons
as well as being an athletic trainer for Adrenaline Lacrosse where she
supervises and manages athletic training personnel, prepares athletes
for competition and evaluates injuries on and off the field. She also
has clinical experience from the University of California at San Diego
and from the University of San Diego where she evaluated and developed
prognoses of sports injuries and developed sport-specific rehabilitation
for athletes. Christine also worked with the Marine Corps Recruit Depot
San Diego Smart Clinic. There she evaluated musculoskeletal injuries,
applied various modalities for recruit rehabilitation and created home
exercise programs for recruits.
WHAT IS A CERTIFIED ATHLETIC TRAINER?
Certified Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are specialists in the
prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation of athletic
injuries and are recognized by the American Medical
Association as Allied Health Care Providers. It is a
challenging and rewarding field for people who love sports. Do
